"Some people were probably surprised to see it pop out of the ground, others thought they had seen it somewhere before ...
On 16 December last, an Araucaria tree was transplanted from ENSICA. It is now located in front of building 38, close to the future location of the Mirage, also moved from ENSICA.
This tree was due to disappear because it was located near a well that the Institute was obliged to plug up before handing over the site to the DGA. The work to clear the access had exposed its main roots.
The Araucaria is an exotic tree, native to Chile, otherwise known as “monkey’s despair”. It can grow up to 30m high and can live 1000 years! Will it resist to a transplantation? Let’s bet that the company Divertcity, newly chosen for the maintenance and creation of green spaces at ISAE-SUPAERO, will do everything possible to make this transplant a success.
This operation was made possible thanks to the support of our management, and particularly that of the Secretary General Mr. Bouchard."
