The French Blood Establishment invites you to participate in the blood donation drive :
- Thursday, October 10
- on the ENSICA campus, reception room
- from 9am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 4pm
Blood donation is vital: there is no substitute for human blood today.
Since 2001, needs have been increasing and periods of tension are becoming more frequent.
Thus, more than 2.5 million donations are needed each year to treat one million patients, in the case of major haemorrhages following an accident or an operation, in the case of treatment of cancers and leukaemia...
Who can donate?
You must be between 18 and 70 years old.
You must weigh more than 50 kg.
You must not be fasting: you must eat and hydrate well before giving blood.
- For a first donation, it is necessary to bring an ID.
How does the donation work?
Four steps:
- Administrative registration: This first step is used to collect the information needed to compile the donor’s file. The donor must bring a document stating his identity.
- The medical interview: Confidential and covered by medical secrecy, the preliminary medical interview ensures that the donation does not present any risk for the donor or for the patient who will benefit from the blood products resulting from this donation.
- The collection: It lasts between 5 and 10 minutes. An average of 450ml of blood is collected. The equipment used is sterile and single-use.
- Rest and snack time: After the donation, the donor remains under the watchful eye of the nurses. A snack is offered before leaving the collection site.
