Within the Federal University of Toulouse, the ISAE-SUPAERO, the CNRS, the ENAC, the University Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier, the ONERA, the INSA Toulouse and the INP Toulouse create with the support of the CNES the “Toulouse University Space Centre”.
The mission of this Scientific Interest Group (GIS) will be to promote and federate multidisciplinary research and training activities in the field of space nano systems.
The creation of the Toulouse University Space Centre GIS is a new structuring step for the university and scientific community of Toulouse. It will enable the development and implementation of new nano-satellite projects and support R&D programmes in the field of nano-space systems in order to carry out scientific or technological missions.
The work on nano-satellites has many advantages from both an academic and scientific point of view. It is in itself a concentrate of technologies bringing together in a very small volume all the functions of a satellite as well as its payload. It therefore represents a very interesting avenue for research and teaching as it prefigures highly integrated avionics architectures and is an ideal platform for student projects.
By signing this agreement, the partners are pursuing the following objectives together:
- Promote mutual knowledge of the training and research activities carried out by the various partners
- Coordinate means and methods in order to carry out space nano-systems projects, publications and joint responses to calls for projects
- To ensure at the national and international level a visibility to the projects carried out within the framework of the University Space Center, in particular the organization of conferences and summer schools
- Participate collectively in the establishment of a network of French university space centers
- To promote the developments and uses of space nano-systems.
